Sheldon Park in Belfast Christchurch is getting a new bowl with construction well underway. I don’t know much about the park other than its built by the same crew as Greymouth & Reefton, so you know the build quality will be good and by looking at the photos above should be a bit of fun.
Here’s a look at the new Auckland Skateparks going in the Waterview connection area. The top park is going to be located at Waterbank Crescent & the bottom park will be at Valonia Street. Both parks will be completed sometime around mid 2016 along with the BMX park.
For the last couple of years Auckland City has had a massive roading project going on, the Waterview Connection, which is a motorway tunnel connecting the north west motorway to the south west motorway. Its a huge project and apparently is the biggest roading tunnel in the southern hemisphere. In conjunction with building the tunnel the Auckland City council has also decided to build two new skateparks at either end,
Forrest Hill Skatepark in Auckland has recently had a little bit of an upgrade. At the top end of the park it now features a small mini which leads into hip / small vert wall, and at the bottom end of the park there’s a 6-7 foot stand alone 1/4. The transitions seem to be done by hand so the mini is a little funky to ride,
Looks like Orewa’s finally getting it’s new Skatepark which I am sure the locals will be stoked about. Its pretty small & a little plaza focused, but thats cool, still looks like a lot of fun. Lets just hope they keep the lights out there as Orewa has always been a good little winter evening spot.
The new Greymouth bowl is completed and looking rad as hell! Definitely looking forward to some hot laps on this beast this coming summer!
The Ngaruawahia skatepark which is about 15 minutes North of Hamilton has had a recent upgrade featuring this rad little snake run. We will be sure to check this out in the next coming weeks and get a few more photos of the new edition. Thanks Mike Reid for this photo.
It’s been a while since I have heard anything about the new bowl getting built in the sleepy South Island town of Greymouth.. hunting around looking for some news and information I spotted these photos at www.confuzine.com. These are the first photos I have seen that really show how big and how rad this bowl will be.
The new Washington reserve extension in Christchurch is now completed and open to the public.. and is quite possible the biggest on the NZ map. Sam Skinner who has recently moved back to Christchurch sent through a bunch of photos he snapped of the locals shredding the new goods.
The park looks killer,
Looks like Christchurch is getting one monster of a park. The EDH Jam happening later this year should be a good one!

The South Island of New Zealand at times definitely has me questioning why I live in Auckland City.. especially when big bowls like this are popping up. This is the latest progression of the new bowl extension going down at the Greymouth skatepark, its looking to be a one monster of a bowl,
Looks like the Washington Reserve skate park in Christchurch is well on its way to being the biggest park in New Zealand. These photos showing the progress where sent in by Ben Seek, looks like its gonna be a hell of a lot of fun that for sure. The 2014 Local Assault Jam is going to be a good one!
Shit this looks rad, Greymouth’s skatepark is getting a serious upgrade featuring a big as hell bowl built by the Nelson Creek Skateboards crew. Looks like its not to far away from completion, click through to check out some construction photos.
There’s a nice little currently getting built in Greenhithe Auckland, should be finished very shortly, its not much but could be a chill jib spot.
Washington Skatepark in Christchurch is finally under construction for its long overdue upgrade.. check out some progress photos over at EDH Bikes. The park is looking super good and set to be one of the biggest in NZ. Good times ahead for the ChCH locals!
New Zealand is somewhat famous for its old school and crazy bowls. Over the years I have ridden most of them.. Whangarei, Waikuku, Waihi.. the list goes on. But there is one I have never ridden and ever since it featured a few clips of Garret Byrnes in the Terrible One video I have always wanted to check it out..
This is slightly old news now but Hasting’s has a brand new skatepark that opened to the public very recently, built by Premium Skateparks Designs to the best quality, it looks like it has a bunch of fun lines, the street section looks super fun and has a nice sized bowl tucked away at the back of the park.
Looks like the 2013 EDH Local Assault Jam has been cancelled for 2013, which is a big bummer as it was definitely one of the countries raddest of rad jams. But.. the cool thing is the Washington Reserve skatepark will be undergoing a million dollar plus upgrade over the next year which will set it to be one of the biggest parks in NZ.
Most of you will be familiar by now with Dialed Indoor Skatepark in Tauranga.. Word on the street is that the guys behind the Dialled Indoor Park are now going to be opening a similar park in Auckland City. The opening date is looking to be around the start of December. Hopefully we will have some more information on this soon!
I had an email pop up in my inbox today with news that Hastings is going to be getting a new Skatepark which is looking to be completed by this summer. Check the photos, looks like its going to have some really fun street features and a nice little bowl area. I also heard that there will be a BMX Jam/Comp there when it opens,
There seems to be a bunch of Skatepark news floating around at the moment. The design above is to be the new Leeston Park.. that is one killer bowl for the size, looks super fun. I spotted this news over at Fungus BMX. If you haven’t checked out Fungus BMX make sure you do,
